Ed Adkins graduated in Optometry at Aston University (where he met Rachel) in 1996 and has since developed particular interests in technology, eye disease, contact lenses and spectacle dispensing. Having undertaken numerous courses and further qualifications, Ed is actively involved in local NHS initiatives, including second opinions on referrals and monitoring stable glaucoma suspects on behalf of a local hospital. He also acts as a lead assessor for a leading further qualification provider and as Secretary for Norfolk & Waveney Local Optical Committee. Ed was the first practitioner in the area to qualify as an Independent Prescribing Optometrist. This allows him to diagnose and – treat certain eye conditions, by prescribing medication and performing various minor procedures when appropriate.

After graduating, Rachel trained in Norwich before moving to Diss. Being the organised one, she is often found in the lab, where she manages to look after the dispensing and the administrative duties as well as enjoying testing patients eyes. Ed & Rachel have lived in Diss since 1998 and have 3 children.

Tina graduated in 1995 from City University in London, before completing her training in Diss and has stayed in the area ever since. Outside of work, she is kept busy with a husband, three children, dog, cat, chickens and bees along with the seemingly never ending house renovations and gardening. When Tina gets the opportunity, she enjoys reading, and card making.

Vicki has been with the practice for over 10 years and qualified as a registered dispensing optician in Summer 2008. Vicki specialises in giving patients all the options suitable for their prescription and ensuring that frames chosen both look good and fit well.

Jade never thought she would end up working in optics, but since joining us in November 2022, she cannot imagine working anywhere else. Jade loves adding colour to her day, whether through her glasses, her hair or elsewhere. ‘Everyday seem brighter with colour’ is her motto! Outside of work, Jade enjoys watching Harry Potter and Marvel films.

Caroline started in Optics way back in April 1998, having had no experience in the field. She now enjoys having chats and helping patients see and look good!

Outside of work, Caroline lives with her pet chihuahua nacho and enjoys being creative.
She also loves birds and volunteers at a falconry centre,learning the art of falconry and caring for raptors. A passion for classic vws means that Caroline hopes to own a camper one day!

A familar face to most people in Diss, Trudy is no stranger to customer service with a welcoming smile. Alongside her family and menagerie, Trudy also looks after our front of house.

Caz has worked in Optics for many years and is well placed to help you find that perfect frame! Outside of work, Caz enjoys looking after her cats and live music.
